It was a cold winters night as I laced up my mud-roc's ready for the killer climb of Farleton Scree, a good test straight into a steep climb just like the start of legs 3,4 & 5 of the BG.
I was climbing at a steady pace when we bump into The Longsdale runner's coming down I found myself fumbling around and struggling to balance I can only put it down to that I was carrying a light in my hand which maybe good when coming down a hill but not the best when the incline was as steep as this one, we reach the summit and the wind was even more biting as we milled around we spotted more headlights darting around I think there were as many lights on Farleton that night than there was at Blackpool lights.
At this point our web master pulled out telling us to push on with out him as he knew his way around and didn't want us standing around waiting him. We dropped down what I call the Valley without him towards a nice little bump of a climb one of them short sharp shockers which seamed to trouble Jarvo or was he trying out a new technique of climbing up on all fours then rolling back down needless to say I will not be trying that one. We dropped down to the base of the long drag, which is the climb that you see from the Motorway, another good long pull up to the summit this again stretching us out. After a final regroup and the fact that Mick's headlights had run out of battery we started our last section with only one little climb left to do before the long fast descent back down the Valley and through the Grouse Bushes stopping only briefly to find a lost dog, he goes missing at the same place every time, we race down rounding the base of The Knott and back to the Cars laughing at joking about what a great time us boys had just had.
Over all a good place to train and its right on our door step.
Total 6miles 1580ft Ascent 4.8mph ave Speed
