4 Dallam runners 2 COLT 1 L& M runner and 2 Dogs

A spot of hill training on a Sunday morning what could be nicer, well on our 2nd loop I could name about 50 nicer things to do, but hill training is what we need no pain no gain springing to mind.

The first lap we were all feeling strong the banter was good as was the pace we went for the longer harder climb through the heather which at the time seemed never ending. We climbed into the mist losing sight of our L&M track runner who was finding out just how hard fell running or may be I should say climbing is, we shouted back down the hill to make sure he was ok and still climbing. The rest of us topped out then three of us doubling back for Adrian, the descent went well much easier then the last time we were up here in the snow.

A quick stop at Stuart's van we refuelled with drinks and sweet things, ready to start our second lap, we said goodbye to the track runner he had his fill of hills for one day but well done hope to see you again soon. Making our way through the woods and onto the fell the banter still good. We were going to start of 2nd climb up slightly earlier then before this climb is just as steep but no heather. Stuart and Tom powering up the hill, they seem very strong why is that I started to ask myself am I doing something wrong? am I doing too much? do I need to do more? I don't know but then I am thinking as I looked up I am not as far behind as I used to be and there is no way I could have been up here 5 years ago. As I approached the summit we turned and dropped back down to the river the steep descent was harder than the climb I started to regret not topping out the second climb as the Colt's had done I can't do that on the BG.

This was to be our last climb of the day having just come down you see just how steep this hill is but thank goodness we have a ginger headed warrior on our team and with his banter alone will keep anyone going and it did. The climb soon past and we topped out. Having not topped out on the 2nd climb me and Baz (the Ginger headed Warrior) dropped back down to the turning point and topped out again, the rest of the team started the final descent. As we dropped off the top and no sign of the front runner Baz stormed past me shouting 'come on you girl lets make a run of it' I slowly picked up my pace to catch the leaders just at the final summit. Job done for the day and we trotted back to the church for hot drinks and cake etc.

A very good hill training day I may not be the fastest up the hills be right now its about the climbing and how strong I feel when we finish (and that was very).

Totals 10.7m ascent 4437ft 3.7mph ave speed
