' You cannot plough a field by turning it over in your mind'

The temp was -6.5 and fresh snow on the ground as we drove to Arnside we were thinking if no one turns up we will come straight back home or go to the pub, but it turned out to be a nice little group.

After all the New Years greetings were done, we were about to start but Greg was thinking of doing a road run , we talked him round but he was not sure as we set of down Arnside prom and onto the sands.

We rounded the shore and into the woods at Far Arnside before we started the long climb of The Dipper , it seems easier in the dark somehow, we dropped slightly so we could get an extra steep climb in which passes the view point, the view was magical, a hint of white snow surrounded by twinkling street light and the darkness in the distance all under a starry sky, viewing done we pressed on the trig point before the fabulous descent of the snow covered field over looking Arnside and onto the road, at this point a few opted for the short route home the rest of us putting in an extra hill and Dobshall woods before returning along the prom with Greg at the helm, have we converted him?

A nice run over the Knott on a cold winters night everyone enjoyed the route and the snow.

Total 6.5m 1500ft ascent 5mph ave speed
