We had a good turn out for a November night, think a few people were possibly put off with the thought of interval training,a total of 10 Dallam runner, 1 local boy and o dogs.
The night could not have been any better with a full moon and a slight nip in the air, off we set leaving the car park traversing the fell as our warm up, we arrived at the Blue Road, had our head count and instructions of what the interval training was going to be, first 90sec was run hard, making sure everyone had set off, I found myself at the very back. Looking up I could just about make out Leechyboy storming off at a good old pace, don't think that pace will last very long I thought and sure enough by the last few reps Leechy was making up some tale about having a comfort break mid rep. Two of our group opted out of the reps and were just going to run at a steady pace up the hill, the rest of us continued with the reps, overall we all reached the summit at around the same time, now theres a topic for debate, hare and the tortoise?
The latter few reps were over more undulating terrain which I found harder than the climbing reps, I was able to keep a more even pace up the climbs before too long we were doing our last rep, "lets push for the final one" someone shouted but the last 20sec of the 11th uphill rep is so hard you know, daggers in the legs, that almost being sick type of feelings, but then that great feeling of having had one of the best work outs ever.
A final re-group and 2 of our party carried on into the darkness, they did return safely we checked later, the rest of us turning to make our descent and our easy run back to the car park, chatting on the way and admiring the soft lights over the bay stretching from Barrow to Ingleton everyone enjoyed the evening and said they would do that sort of training again, that's another topic for debate.
Well done everyone another great training night lets try and keep it up, hope to see you all and more in two weeks at Inglebrough ps dogs welcome!
Not sure of our totals this week these are only for our 11 reps. 2.5 mile 1065ft ascent 5mph ave speed.
